Winter Fruit Crumble With Ginger
|Pears||4 Large, peeled, thinly sliced (4 Cups / 1 Liter)|
|Apples||4 Large, peeled, thinly sliced (4 Cups / 1 Liter)|
|Chopped walnuts||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 Ml)|
|Raisins||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 Ml)|
|Chopped preserved ginger||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (50 Ml)|
|Ground ginger||1⁄2 Teaspoon (2 Ml)|
|Orange juice||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 Ml)|
|All purpose flour||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (175 Ml)|
|Packed brown sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 Ml)|
|Cold butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (125 Ml)|
In large bowl, stir together pears, apples, walnuts, raisins, sugar, preserved ginger and ground ginger.
Spoon into greased 8 cup (2 L) baking dish and smooth top.
Drizzle with orange juice.
Topping: In small bowl, blend flour with sugar; cut in butter until in coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle over fruit.
Bake in 400Â°F (200Â°C) oven for 45 to 55 minutes or until topping is crisp and fruit is tender.
