Meringue Chocolate Chip Bars

Ingredients
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted
  Semi sweet chocolate morsels 6 Ounce (1 package)
  Chopped pecans 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Egg whites 3
  Firmly packed brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Combine flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a small bowl.
Stir in butter, blending well.
Press mixture evenly into an ungreased 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan.
Sprinkle with the chocolate chips and pecans.
Beat egg whites (at room temperature) until foamy.
Gradually add 1 cup brown sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
Carefully spread meringue over chocolate chips and pecans.
Bake at 375°F for 18 to 20 minutes.
Cool, and cut into squares.
