|Dates||1 Cup (16 tbs), finely chopped|
|Icing sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Brazil nuts||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs), finely chopped|
Combine dates and 1/2 cup sugar.
Beat egg whites until softly peaked, and add remaining sugar very gradually, beating until very stiff.
Fold in dates and nuts.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto baking sheets covered with brown paper.
Bake in 275Â°F. oven 20 minutes or until set.
Cool on paper; then peel off.
Makes 4 dozen meringues.
