Danish Pastry Apple Bars

Ingredients
  Flour 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs), sifted
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Crisco 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Egg yolk 1
  Milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Corn flakes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Tart apples 10 , pared and sliced (8 cups)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Egg white 1
Directions

GETTING READY
1 Preheat the oven to 375° F.

MAKING
2 In a medium bowl, combine flour and salt.
3 Cut in Crisco.
4 In a measuring cup, beat in egg yolk.
5 Add in enough milk to make 2/3 cup liquid; mix well.
6 Stir the egg mixture into flour mixture.
7 On a floured surface, roll half the dough to 17x12 inch rectangle.
8 Line a 15 1/2x10 1/2x1-inch baking pan with half the pastry.
9 Sprinkle with cornflakes.
10 Top with apples.
11 In a bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.
12 Evenly sprinkle over apples.
13 Roll the remaining dough to make the top crust.
14 Place over the apples.
15 Seal the edges of dough; cutting slits on top for the steam to escape.
16 In a bowl, beat egg white until frothy; brush on the crust.
17 Bake for 50 minutes.
18 Drizzle with Confectioners Sugar Glaze, while still warm.

SERVING
19 Cut in to bars.
