Russian Fish Roll
|Butter||1 Ounce (25 gram)|
|Onion||1 Medium, peeled and finely chopped|
|Mushrooms||4 Ounce (100 gram)|
|Smoked fish fillets||1 Pound, poached, skinned and flaked (450 gram)|
|Prepared mustard||2 Teaspoon|
|Freshly chopped parsley||30 Milliliter (2 tablespoons)|
|Canned red pimento||2 , cut into thin strips|
|Freshly ground black pepper||To Taste|
|Puff pastry dough||1 (basic, made with 225 gram /1/2 pound flour)|
|Egg||1 , beaten (for glaze)|
1.Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
2.In a pan, heat butter and fry onions in it until tender.
3.Stir mushrooms and saute for 2 minutes .
4.Once done, take the mixture out in a bowl.
5.Put flaked fish, mustard, parsley, pimiento and pepper in the bowl and mix well.
6.On a flored surface roll the dough to form a rectangle.
7.Place the dough on baking sheet.
8.Place the mixture on the dough and spread it.
9.Brush the edges with water and roll the dough as Swiss roll.
10.From the dough left, decorate the roll.
11.In the center of the roll make a hole.
12.Freeze the roll by wrapping in foil or brush with beaten egg and bake for 35 minutes.
13.Serve warm with dips after baking.
If using frozen, thaw for 4 hours in refrigerator and bake for 35 minutes after glazing with beaten egg.
