Spiced Swedish Fruit Soup

Ingredients
  Mixed dried fruits 2 Cup (32 tbs) (Peaches, Pears, Apricots)
  Dried apples 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Pitted prunes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Canned pitted tart red cherries 39 Ounce (1 No. 303 Can)
  Raisins/Currants 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Water 2 Quart
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cinnamon piece 3 Inch
  Lemon peel 1 Teaspoon
  Mace 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Cardamom 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Allspice 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Nutmeg 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Whipped cream/Commercial sour cream 3 Tablespoon
Directions

MAKING
1) In a large saucepan, combine together all the ingredients, except for the whipped cream or sour cream.
2) Bring the contents to a boil, reduce the heat and gently simmer, covered, for about 1 hour or till the fruit is soft.
3) Take out the cinnamon and rub the cooked fruit with liquid through a fine sieve or puree the mixture in a blender.
4) Chill the soup.

SERVING
5) Serve the Swedish Fruit Soup chilled, topped with sour cream or whipped cream. Makes a good appetizer as well as an apt snack.
