Portuguese Sweet Bread
|Dry yeast||1⁄4 Ounce|
|Warm water||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Flour||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Butter||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
In a bowl, combine eggs, 1/3 cup sugar and salt.
Heat butter and milk in sauce pan until butter melts.
Dissolve yeast and 1 tsp sugar in warm water, let stand Cook for bubble).
Very slowly, add a little milk mixture to the egg mixture, beating constantly.
Add diluted egg mixture to milk mixture, stirring well, cool, add yeast mixture; stir gently.

Gently place dough in the butter coated bowl; cover with damp cloth and set in warn place.
Let rise until doubled; divide into thirds.
On a flour board, roll out each third into circles about 1/8 inch thick.
Brush top completely with melted butter.
Cut each circle into 12-16 wedges.
Roll up each wedge into ball place 2 inches apart on baking sheets.
In warm place, let rise until doubled.
Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
