Ingredients
  Egg whites 2
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Lemon juice 1 Teaspoon
  Vanilla 1⁄2 Teaspoon
Directions

Beat egg whites until they will form stiff peaks; add sugar very gradually, beating thoroughly after each addition of sugar.
Then add flavoring.
Blend well.
Pile on pie filling, being careful to completely cover filling at edge of pastry.
Bake in a slow oven (325°F.) 20 to 25 minutes.
Meringue should be slightly browned and firm.
