Finnish Stuffed Turnips

Ingredients
  Turnips 12 Medium
  Boiling water 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Salt 1 Tablespoon
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Soft bread crumbs 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Chopped almonds 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Directions

Scrub turnips, rinse, drain, and peel.
Cook, covered with salted boiling water, for 12 to 15 minutes, or until soft.
Drain, and cool.
Spoon out a little of the center.
Chop removed centers and mix with 2 tablespoons butter and all but 2 tablespoons of the bread crumbs.
Stuff hollowed turnips with crumb mixture and sprinkle with about half of almonds.
Brown remaining butter.
Put stuffed turnips in a casserole, pour browned butter over, and sprinkle well with remaining crumbs and almonds.
Bake in preheated moderate oven (350°F.) for 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Baste frequently with any butter in casserole or extra melted butter.
Makes 6 servings.
