Ingredients
  Water 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Salt 3⁄4 Teaspoon
  Uncooked rice 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon
  Butter 1 Tablespoon
  Seedless raisins 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), coarsely chopped
  Blanched almonds 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), chopped
Directions

1 Pour the water into a saucepan with a close-fitting cover and bring to a vigorous boil. Add the salt and the rice and stir to distribute rice evenly. Cover and reduce heat to a simmer.
2 Cook without uncovering for about 15 minutes, or until rice is done. Rice should be tender and fluffy; if not, replace lid and continue cooking.
3 Add the sugar, butter, raisins and almonds, reserving about 1 tablespoon each of the raisins and almonds for garnish. Stir to distribute the ingredients evenly. Cover and allow to warm together for about 3 minutes.
4 Turn out on a serving dish or platter and garnish with the reserved raisins and almonds.
