Cheesy Swiss Chard
|Mature swiss chard||2 Pound|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Diced cheddar cheese||1⁄4 Pound|
Preheat oven to 325°F.
Wash chard; cut stalks into 1-inch pieces; cook in 1/2-inch boiling water with salt, covered, 5 minutes.
Then add torn chard leaves; cover; cook 5 minutes.
In saucepan, melt butter; stir in flour, then milk; cook, stirring, over medium heat until thickened.
Add cheese; toss with chard.
Turn into 1 1/2-quart casserole.
Bake, uncovered, 45 minutes.
