Meringue Kisses

Ingredients
  Egg whites 3
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Cream of tartar 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Peppermint extract 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Dash
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Milk chocolate kisses 36 (3 Dozen, Candy Kisses)
  Green sugar crystal 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Green sugar crystals 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
Directions

In small mixer bowl, combine egg whites, vanilla, cream of tartar, peppermint extract, and salt; beat to soft peaks.
Very gradually add sugar, beating till very stiff peaks form.
(Meringue will be glossy.) Drop from tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheet, about 1 1/2 inches apart.
Press one chocolate candy kiss into each meringue.
Bring meringue up and over sides of candies, with knife or narrow spatula, swirling top.
Sprinkle with green sugar crystals.
Bake in 275° oven for 30 minutes.
Immediately remove from baking sheet and cool.
Makes about 3 dozen candies.
