Crustless Swiss Cheese And Onion Quiche

  Butter/Margarine 6 Tablespoon (3/4 Stick)
  Yellow onions 2 Medium, peeled and sliced
  Eggs 2 , lightly beaten
  Egg yolks 2
  Shredded swiss cheese 4 Ounce (1 Cup)
  Half and half 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Black pepper 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Fine dry bread crumbs 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Melt 4 tablespoons of the butter in a 1-quart saucepan over moderately low heat. Add the onions, and cook, covered, for 10 minutes, or until very soft.
2. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, egg yolks, cheese, half-and-half, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
3. When the onions are cooked, spread them out in a buttered 9-inch pie plate. Melt the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter in the saucepan. Add the egg mixture to the pie plate, and sprinkle the bread crumbs and melted butter over the top. Bake, uncovered, for 25 minutes, or until puffed and set.
