Shoo Fly Pie

Ingredients
  Baking soda 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Boiling water 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Mild molasses 1 Cup (16 tbs) (Dark Variety)
  Brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  9 inch pie crust 1
Directions

In a small bowl, dissolve baking soda in boiling water.
Add molasses and stir.
In another bowl, combine brown sugar and flour.
Using your fingers, rub in shortening until mixture forms into crumbs.
Pour one-third of the molasses mixture into unbaked pie crust; then add one-third of the crumb mixture.
Continue to make layers, ending up with crumbs.
Bake in a 375°F oven for approximately 35 minutes, or until crust and crumb mixture are brown.
