Swiss Luncheon Special
|Sliced onion||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Hard-cooked eggs||6 , sliced|
|Natural swiss cheese||8 Ounce, shredded|
|Milk||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|French bread slice||6 , buttered (1/2 Inch Thick Slices)|
Cook onion in butter till tender but not brown.
Spread in bottom of 10 x 6 x 1 1/2 -inch baking dish.
Reserve 6 egg slices for garnish, top onion with remaining eggs, then with cheese.
Mix soup, milk, and pepper; heat, stirring, till smooth.
Pour sauce over casserole, being sure some goes to bottom.
Place bread slices on top, overlapping them a little.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 25 to 30 minutes or till heated through.
Place in broiler a few minutes, if necessary to toast bread.
