Meringue Gateau

Ingredients
  Egg whites 6
  Castor sugar 12 Ounce
  Strawberries 1 1⁄2 Pound
  Lemon juice 1 Tablespoon
  Castor sugar 1 Tablespoon
  Double cream 1⁄2 Pint
Directions

Make the meringue.Put into a plain forcing pipe (1/2 in.) and pipe a round base, working from the centre outwards, 6 in in diameter.
Build up the sides to a height of 1 1/2 in.
Pipe the remaining meringue into small shell shapes.
Bake in a very cool oven (265° F., Gas 1/2); then cool.
Prepare strawberries, sprinkle with lemon juice and castor sugar and allow to stand until meringue case is ready.
Reserve a few choice fruits for decoration; place the rest in the meringue case.
Cover with the whipped cream.
Decorate with meringue shells and strawberries.
