very nice recipe.Steak tartare is now regarded as a gourmet dish. It is especially popular in Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic (Tatarák) and Switzerland. In Belgium, it is known as filet américain or American fillet. It is eaten as a main course, typically accompanied with toast or french fries.

It has always been popular in France, often eaten with a raw egg and chopped raw onions and toast points. I use to enjoy it very much when I was 18 and living in Europe, but with mad cow and ecoli I won't won't eat it again. It's been over 15 years since I ate it. I just don't eat beef much prefer such as venison or lamb. Shanti/Mary-Anne
