|Molasses||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Anise oil||3 Drop, mixed with hot water|
|Hot water||1 Tablespoon|
|Flour||3 1⁄3 Cup (53.33 tbs) (Gold Medal)|
Heat oven to 350°
Mix shortening, sugar, egg, molasses, and anise mixture.
Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting.
Blend dry ingredients; mix in gradually with hands.
Knead dough until right consistency for molding.
If dough seems too soft, refrigerate until firm.
Mold into balls 3/4" in diameter; place on greased baking sheet.
Bake about 12 min., or until golden brown on bottom.
Cookies harden on standing.
Store in airtight container with slice of apple to mellow them.
