Almond-Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
  Shortening 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Oats 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), uncooked (Quick Cooking Or Regular)
  Water 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Vanilla extract 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  All purpose flour 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Toasted diced almonds 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Directions

Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly.
Blend in oats, water and vanilla extract.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir into creamed mixture.
Mix in almonds.
Chill in refrigerator 1 hour.
Shape into small balls, place on greased cookie sheets and flatten with spatula.
Bake at 400 ° for 8 to 10 minutes.
