Christmas Swedish Cookies
|Butter/Margarine||1 Cup (16 tbs), softened|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Commercial sour cream||6 Tablespoon|
|All purpose flour||2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)|
|Powdered sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Water||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Green food coloring||1 Drop|
|Red food coloring||1 Drop|
Cream butter and sugar.
Add vanilla extract and sour cream; mix well.
Combine flour and salt; fold into creamed mixture until thoroughly blended.
Chill dough in refrigerator overnight or for several hours.
Roll out chilled dough, a small amount at a time, to 1/4 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
Cut with star or tree-shaped cookie cutters.
Place about 1 inch apart on lightly greased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350° for about 10 minutes.
To frost, mix powdered sugar and enough water to make a smooth, thin-spreading consistency.
Tint two-thirds of frosting mixture green, and remaining portion red.
Spread green frosting on cookies; outline edges with red frosting.
