Classic Dutch Apple Cake
|All purpose flour||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Seedless raisins||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , well beaten|
|Milk||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Peeled tart apple wedges||3 Cup (48 tbs) (1/4 Inch Thick)|
|Ground cinnamon||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
Mix first 4 ingredients and 2 tablespoons sugar.
Cut in 1/3 cup butter.
Add combined egg and milk and blend well.
Spread in greased 10 x 6 x 2-inch glass baking dish.
Arrange apple wedges in rows in batter.
Brush with 2 tablespoons melted butter and sprinkle with mixture of spices and 2 tablespoons sugar.
Bake in preheated hot oven (400°F.) 30 to 40 minutes.
Cut in squares and serve warm.
