Scalloped Potatoes With Ham And Swiss Cheese
|Onion||1 Large, halved lengthwise, thinly sliced|
|All purpose flour||2 Tablespoon|
|Milk||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Dijon mustard||2 Teaspoon|
|Smoked ham||8 Ounce, cut into 1 inch / 2.5 centimeter thin strips|
|Shredded swiss cheese/Cheddar cheese||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
1. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and cook for 3 minutes or until softened. Sprinkle with flour; slowly stir in 1/2 cup (125 mL) of the milk; cook, stirring, until thickened. Stir in remaining milk, mustard, salt and nutmeg to taste. Bring to a boil; cook, stirring, until sauce thickens.
2. Peel and thinly slice potatoes. Rinse under cold water; drain. Wrap in a clean kitchen towel to dry. Stir into sauce; bring to a boil. Stir in ham strips. Pour into baking dish.
