|Sugar||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||2 Cup (32 tbs), unsifted|
|Unblanched almonds||1⁄4 Pound, ground|
|Egg white||1 , beaten|
|Tiny multicolored candies||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs) (Red And Green Colored)|
Cream the butter with the sugar until light.
Add the egg yolks and vanilla; beat until fluffy.
Gradually add the flour and almonds, a little at a time, mixing with a spoon at first, then knead well with your hands.
If the dough is too soft for rolling, chill until firm enough.
Divide the dough into thirds.
Roll out each portion on a lightly floured board slightly less than 1/4 inch thick.
Cut into 3 x 1-inch strips, using a sharp knife or pastry wheel.
Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Brush the strips with the egg white.
Sprinkle each with red or green sugar, or with candies (just down the centers).
Bake in a 350° oven until golden, about 15 minutes.
