Meringue Chocolate Chip Bars

Chocolate chip bars are great but why not try out something new and diferent for your family like the Meringue chocolate chip bars. Bar cookies are the easiest to make and the meringue chocolate chip bars tops the list. Not a bad idea at all when you have little time and at the same time want to try out something great!
Ingredients
  All purpose flour 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)
  Butter/Margarine 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs), melted
  Semi-sweet chocolate morsels 6 Ounce (1 package)
  Pecans 1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs), chopped
  Egg whites 3
  Brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs) (firmly packed)
Directions

Combine flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar in a small bowl.
Stir in butter, blending well.
Press mixture into an ungreased 13-x 9- x 2-inch baking pan.
Sprinkle with chocolate morsels and pecans.
Beat egg whites (at room temperature) at high speed of an electric mixer until foamy.
Gradually add 1 cup brown sugar, beating until stiff peaks form.
Spread meringue over chocolate and pecans.
Bake at 375° for 18 to 20 minutes.
Cool and cut into 3- x 1-inch bars.
