Measuring Spoon is an important kitchen tool which helps to accurately measure ingredients required in the preparation of any dish. It was invented by Fannie Farmer, the then director of the Boston Cooking School. This concept was first published in a book written by her, called “The Boston Cooking School Cook Book” while she was the director of the cooking school.

Wooden Measuring Spoon – These are made with wood and look beautiful but not very commonly used. This is because these spoons have more of the aesthetic value than usage. They looks unique in the kitchen but are not long lasting. Frequent use and dampness causes the wood to crack or become warped with time.
Magnetic Measuring Spoon – This type of measuring spoon have magnets within the surface of the upper material. It enables the user to stick them to any metallic surface in the kitchen where it easily clings and can be found when required. This is especially useful as spoon, being a small article ,sometimes becomes difficult to find in the kitchen. The magnetic property enables it to cling to any metallic surface and to be located easily at the time of use.
Decorative Measuring Spoon – These may be made of porcelain, silver, stainless steel, plastic or wood. They have beautiful designs painted, printed or engraved on them. They are not meant for daily use but to add to the décor of the kitchen.
