The first and most important step is to organize all your appliances in the kitchen. Make sure that these do not fill up most of the working space of your kitchen counter. Keep the ones that you use more often on the counter and put aside the rest. This will ensure that you have more room for working and will make the counter clutter free.
Organize Utensils and Cutlery
Put aside all you cutlery in a basket within an arm’s reach. Coffee mugs, soup mugs and other items should be places appropriately. Don’t allow these to sit on the counter. Design your cabinets so that every utensil has a proper place to sit.
Clean While You Cook
Though they may seem a little absurd at first, but trust me it will help you a lot. Keep cleaning dishpans, cutlery etc. as you make dishes. Clean and reuse the same pans for making two or three dishes. Once you are done cooking, you will be surprised to see the that you will have few dishes to wash and the kitchen counter will also not look crowded by the number of dirty dishes.

However, tired you may be after the cooking session, but do make sure that you clean the counter immediately. Wipe off the spills as promptly because they get dried in course of time and it would be difficult to get them cleaned. Keep you mini mop and cleaner handy and scrub the counter top of any residues and stains. Wipe with a damp cloth to keep your kitchen counter sparkling.
Clean the Stainless Steel Sink
Cleaning the sink is as important as keeping the kitchen counter clean. Once you have washed all the dishes and put them aside, then its time to clean the sink using and abrasive cleaner, baking soda and vinegar. Sprinkle the cleaner all over the sink, including the taps and the traps. Use a sponge or a wet rag to scrub the sink thoroughly. Dismantle the traps and wash them properly. Wash the taps and rinse the sink with some hot water. Now put baking soda in the drain so that it fills up the entire drain. Pour some vinegar over it. You will see a lot of fizzing as soon as the vinegar touches the baking soda. Don't be alarmed. Keep pouring till the baking soda is washed down the drain. Let the mixture sit in the drain for at least 2-3 hours before washing it down with warm water. You will have a perfectly disinfected, germ free sink to match the sparkling clean kitchen counter.
Spray Disinfectant Cleaner
To keep your kitchen counter sparkling as well as germ free, use disinfectant spray designed to destroy bacteria. Spray on the countertop and wipe all handles.
It is a good idea to clean and disinfect the trash can once in a while. You could use baking soda to wipe it clean.
