In a medium size bowl, combine the milk, rum, and sugar, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
In another medium size bowl, beat the egg whites until they hold soft peaks, then fold into the milk mixture.
Ladle the eggnog into chilled punch cups or wine glasses and sprinkle each with nutmeg.
