Ingredients
  Tart apples 3 1⁄2 Cup (56 tbs)
  Sugar 2 Tablespoon
  Water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Lemon juice 2 Tablespoon
  Butter 1 Tablespoon
  Flour 1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs)
  Baking powder 3 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Shortening 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Egg 1
  Milk 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
Brown sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
Directions

Combine apples, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1/2 cup water. Boil 5 minutes. Drain apples; reserve syrup. Measure 3/4 cup syrup. Add water if needed; pour syrup into baking pan. Stir in 3/4 cup sugar, lemon juice, and butter. Place baking pan in preheated oven while preparing rolls. In a large bowl, sift flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening to resemble coarse meal. Combine egg and milk. Add to flour mixture; stir with a fork. Transfer dough to a floured board, and pat or roll into 12 X 18-inch rectangle. Spread dough with drained apples. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll, jelly-roll style; cut in 2-inch thick slices. Place in syrup in pan, cut side down. Bake 30 minutes, or until lightly browned. Serve warm or cold with table cream or Jiffy Lemon Sauce
