Apple Dumplings

Ingredients
  Flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Baking powder 2 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Milk 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Apples 8
  Sugar 8 Tablespoon
  Butter 4 Tablespoon
  Cinnamon 1 Teaspoon, mixed with sugar
  Sugar 1 Teaspoon, mixed with cinnamon
Directions

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in shortening.
Add milk and stir.
Knead lightly on floured board.
Roll 1/8 inch thick.
Divide dough into 8 parts.
Pare and core apples, and place 1 apple on each section of dough.
Fill hollow of each apple with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 teaspoon butter.
Fold dough over apple, pressing edges together.
Place in shallow pan and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.
Dot with remaining butter.
Bake at 400°F for 30-40 minutes.
