Fresh Orange Dumplings
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Orange juice||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Water||1 1⁄3 Cup (21.33 tbs)|
|Butter||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Sugar||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Milk||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Plain flour||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Baking powder||1 1⁄2|
Peel oranges, removing all white membrane.
Cut into small pieces and remove seeds.
Com- bine with other sauce ingredients and bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
Dumplings: Cream the butter and sugar.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Add alterna- tely with milk to creamed mixture.
Pour sauce into shallow oven dish.
Drop dumplings in large spoonsful into top of hot sauce.
Bake, uncovered, in a moderate oven for 25 minutes or until top of dumplings is lightly browned.
Spoon dumplings into individual serving bowls and spoon some of the hot orange sauce over.
Top with whipped cream, spiced with cinnamon.
