Cherry Dumplings

Ingredients
  Canned pitted red sour cherries 1 Pound (1 Can)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sifted cake flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
  Salt 1⁄4 Teaspoon
  Orange 1 , rind grated
  Milk 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Butter 2 Teaspoon, melted
Directions

Put undrained cherries and 3/4 cup sugar in large deep skillet and bring to boil.
Mix and sift 1/4 cup sugar, the flour, baking powder, and salt into bowl.
Add remaining ingredients and mix lightly.
Drop from tablespoon into boiling mixture, making 4 to 6 dumplings.
Cover and cook gently for 20 minutes.
Serve warm.
