Apple Dumplings

Ingredients
  All purpose flour 2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Shortening 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Cold water 8 Tablespoon
  Cooking apples 6 Small, peeled
  Sugar 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Light cream 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄8 Teaspoon
  Maple syrup 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Light cream 1 Tablespoon
Directions

Mix flour and salt.
Cut in shortening till pieces are the size of small peas.
Sprinkle 1 tablespoon water over part of the mixture; gently toss with fork.
Push to side of bowl; repeat till all is moistened.
Form dough into a ball.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out to an 18 x 12-inch rectangle; cut into six 6-inch squares.
Place an apple in center of each square.
Mix sugar, the 1/4 cup light cream, and nutmeg; spoon about 1 1/2 tablespoons into center of each apple.
Moisten edges of each pastry square with a little water.
Fold corners of each square to center; seal by pinching together.
Place in an ungreased 11 x7x1 1/2-inch baking pan.
Bake in 375° oven for 35 minutes.
Pour maple-flavored syrup over dumplings.
Return to oven and bake 15 minutes more or till apples are done.
