Mezcal is an often misunderstood spirit. Although similar to Tequila, it is worlds apart in many ways. Tim Master, Director of Specialty Spirits Division and Trade Education at Frederick Wildman and Sons, brought Ilegal Mezcal to share with Kathy and taught her a bit about this robust and unique spirit. Tim also shared his recipe for a wonderful winter Mezcal cocktail, the Maguey Harvest.
|Mezcal||1 1/2 Ounce|
|Cinnamon||1/2 Ounce (Gomme Syrup)|
|Fresh lemon juice||1/2 Ounce|
|Apple cider||1 1/2 Ounce (Fresh Cider)|
1. Shake with ice and strain in to a cocktail glass.
2. Serve garnished with grated nutmeg,
Alternatively, you could warm the ingredients over a low flame, do not boil, and serve hot in mugs.
