Old Fashioned Salad Dressing
|Granulated sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|All purpose flour||2 Tablespoon|
|Dry mustard||2 Teaspoon|
|Egg||1 , lightly beaten|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|White vinegar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
In saucepan, combine sugar, flour, mustard and salt; beat in egg.
Gradually stir in milk and vinegar until smooth.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 5 minutes or until mixture comes to boil.
Stir in butter; cook, stirring constantly, for 3 to 4 minutes or until bubbly and thickened.
Let cool at room temperature for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent skin from forming.
(Dressing can be refrigerated in jar with tight-fitting lid for up to 2 weeks.) Makes about 2-1/2 cups (625 mL).
