Sourdough Doughnuts

Ingredients
  Baking powder 4 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 2 Teaspoon
  Granulated sugar 1 Tablespoon
  All purpose white flour 4 Cup (64 tbs)
  Shortening 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Sourdough starter 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Directions

Combine first 4 ingredients.
Cut in shortening until mixture resembles dry cornmeal.
Add Sourdough Starter and enough milk to form soft dough that cleans sides of bowl.
Knead lightly 6 times.
Pat or roll dough to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into biscuits, using 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
Fry doughnuts in preheated 360°F grease 1 1/2 minutes or until golden brown.
Drain; sprinkle with granulated sugar
