|Fat||2 Cup (32 tbs) (for deep frying)|
|Sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Bread flour||4 Cup (64 tbs)|
|Milk||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Baking powder||4 Teaspoon|
Cream shortening and sugar until well-blended.
Add beaten egg.
Sift 3 cups, of the flour with remaining dry ingredients.
Add to egg * mixture alternately with milk.
Then add 1 cup flour or enough to make a soft dough.
Roll dough 1/4 in. thick on a floured board, cut into desired shapes and fry in deep hot fat at 370° F. until brown and cooked.
Drain on absorbent paper and when cool roll in sugar.
This may easily be done by putting several doughnuts in a paper bag with a little granulated or powdered sugar and by shaking the bag.
