  Shortening 2 Tablespoon
  Sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Eggs 2
  All purpose flour 3 1⁄2 Cup (56 tbs)
  Baking powder 5 Teaspoon (1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons)
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Ground cinnamon 1 Teaspoon
  Ground nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Milk 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Vegetable oil 2 Cup (32 tbs) (for deep frying)
  Sifted powdered sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs)
  Water 3 Tablespoon
  Vanilla extract 1⁄2 Teaspoon

Cream shortening; gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating well.
Add eggs, beating well.
Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and spices; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
Place dough on a lightly floured surface; roll out to 1/2 -inch thickness.
Cut with a floured 2 1/2-inch doughnut cutter.
Place doughnuts on a lightly floured surface; cover and let rest 15 minutes.
Heat 3 to 4 inches of oil to 375°; drop in 3 to 4 doughnuts at a time.
Cook about 1 minute on each side or until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Combine powdered sugar, water, and vanilla; beat until smooth.
Dip warm doughnuts in glaze; cool.
