Sourdough Raised Doughnuts

  Warm water 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Milk 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs), scalded
  Scalded milk 2⁄3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
  Sourdough starter 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Margarine 1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
  Dry yeast 1⁄4 Ounce (1 Package)
  Mashed potatoes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Flour 5 Cup (80 tbs)
  Eggs 2 , beaten
  Salt 1 Teaspoon

Dissolve yeast in warm water, stir in sourdough starter, then let set.
In another bowl place scalded milk, sugar, margarine & salt; allow to cool.
Add starter mixture, mashed potatos & eggs; mix well.
Slowly stir in flour to make a soft dough, cover, and let rise until double.
Punch down, place on floured board; and knead.
Roll out to about 1/2 inch, cut and let rise again.
Fry in deep hot oil (365 degrees) until golden brown on each side.
Drain on paper; sugar while still warm.
