Raised Doughnuts

Ingredients
  Scalded milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Sugar 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Flour 4 Cup (64 tbs), sifted
  Egg 1 , beaten
  Nutmeg 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Salt 1 Teaspoon
  Shortening 2 Tablespoon, melted
  Yeast package 1 (Dissolved In 1/4 Cup Warm Water)
Directions

Cool milk to lukewarm & mix with sugar, melted shortening & salt.
Mix in yeast water.
Mix in 1 1/2 cups flour, then set aside in a warm place to rise & become light.
Add nutmeg, egg, & enough of rest of flour to make a soft dough.
Knead on floured board; cover & let rise.
Toss on board; roll out to about 3/4" thickness.
Cut to doughnut shape & let rise again.
Fry in deep hot fat (365 degrees).
Start with raised side down, then turn.
Cook to a golden brown.
Drain on paper towels; sugar while still warm.
