|All purpose flour||3 Cup (48 tbs)|
|Ground cinnamon||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Ground cloves||1 Teaspoon|
|Ground ginger||1 Teaspoon|
|Butter/Margarine||1 Cup (16 tbs), softened (2 Sticks)|
|Light brown sugar||1 1⁄4 Cup (20 tbs), firmly packed|
|Sliced blanched almonds||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
1. On sheet of waxed paper, sift flour with spices and salt. Set aside.
2. In large bowl of electric mixer, at high speed, beat butter with brown sugar and egg until mixture is very light and fluffy.
3. With wooden spoon, stir in half of flour mixture; then beat in rest of flour mixture and the almonds, mixing with hands if necessary.
