Date Stuffed Baked Pears
|Ripe pears||8 Large|
|Lemon juice||25 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)|
|Slivered almonds||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs) (Toasted)|
|Chopped dates||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Firmly packed brown sugar||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs)|
|Raisins||25 Milliliter (2 Tablespoon)|
|Chopped preserved ginger||15 Milliliter (1 Tablespoon)|
|Pear nectar/Apple juice||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Butter||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
Peel pears; halve lengthwise and core.
Place pears, cut side up, in 13 x 9 inch (3.5 L) pan.
Drizzle with lemon juice.
In small bowl, combine almonds, dates, half the sugar, all the raisins and ginger.
Spoon into pear halves, mounding mixture high on pears.
Combine remaining sugar and pear nectar; drizzle over and around pears.
Dot with butter.
Cover with foil.
Bake pears in 375Â°F (190Â°C) oven for 45 minutes or until tender and juicy.
Spoon sauce over pears once or twice during baking.
Makes 8 servings as is, 16 when served with ice cream.
Toast almonds on baking sheet in 350Â°F (180Â°C) oven for 5 minutes or until golden.
