Date Orange Pinwheels
|Finely chopped pitted dates||1⁄3 Cup (5.33 tbs) (Whole Dates)|
|Finely shredded orange peel||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Orange juice||2 Tablespoon|
|Basic danish dough||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (1/4 Recipe)|
|Vanilla icing||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
In saucepan combine dates, sugar, orange peel, juice, and dash salt.
Bring to boiling; reduce heat.
Cover and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring once or twice.
Stir in vanilla.
Roll dough on lightly floured surface to 9-inch square.
Spread with filling.
Roll up jelly-roll fashion; moisten and press edge to seal.
Slice into nine 1-inch-thick rolls.
Place cut side down on ungreased baking sheet; press down lightly with fingers to form 2 1/2-inch rounds.
Cover, let rise in warm place till almost double (25 to 30 minutes).
Bake in 425°F oven for 9 to 10 minutes.
Cool on rack; frost with Vanilla Icing
