|Brown sugar||1 Cup (16 tbs), packed|
|All purpose flour||2 1⁄4 Cup (36 tbs)|
|Baking powder||2 Teaspoon|
|Baking soda||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Buttermilk/Sour milk||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Rolled oats||2 Cup (32 tbs)|
|Date filling||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs) (Homemade Or Canned)|
Beat the first four ingredients together, then stir in sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Add the oats and chill until firm enough to roll.
Roll out on a floured board to 3/8-inch thickness, and cut into circles, 3 to 4 inches in diameter.
Dampen the edge of each round.
Dab centre with date filling and fold over.
Press edges together with a fork.
Prick the top with a fork.
Bake on a greased cooky sheet at 375F for 10 minutes, or until edges are light brown.
