Date Strawberries

  Margarine/Butter 5 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Dates 1 Pound, cut up
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
  Rice crispies 2 1⁄2 Cup (40 tbs)

Combine margarine, sugar and dates in a saucepan.
Boil for 10 minutes.
Cool and add vanilla.
Add rice crispies.
Mix well.
Shape into 1/2 balls, flattening top and forming a point to resemble a strawberry.
Dip each into red granulated sugar.
Top with a plastic hull which can be purchased at a baker's supply store, or a bit of green parsley tucked in with a toothpick.
The berries can also be dipped into Quick Fondant instead of red sugar.
