Midgee Date Loaves
|Boiling water||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
|Pitted dates||8 Ounce, cut up (1 Package)|
|Sifted all purpose flour||1 3⁄4 Cup (28 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Egg||1 , beaten|
|Sharp process american cheese||1⁄4 Pound, shredded|
|Broken california walnuts||3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)|
Pour boiling water over dates and let stand 5 minutes.
Sift together the flour, sugar, soda, and salt; add dates, beaten egg, cheese, and walnuts, mixing well.
Turn batter into 4 greased 4 1/2 x 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 inch loaf pans.
Bake in moderate oven (350°) for about 35 minutes or till done.
