Old Fashioned Baked Custard

Ingredients
  Eggs 6 Small
  Salt 1⁄2 Teaspoon
  Sugar 1⁄2 Cup (8 tbs)
  Scalded milk 1 Quart
  Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
Directions

For individual custards use 4 eggs, for a large custard use 6.
Beat the eggs slightly, add the sugar and salt, and mix well.
Add the scalded milk and stir well.
Flavor with vanilla and a sprinkle of nutmeg if you wish.
Mix thoroughly.
Grease the custard cups or baking dish and pour in the custard mixture.
Place in a shallow pan containing warm water and bake in a slow oven of 325° F. 40 min. for individual custards or 75 min. for a large custard.
Test by inserting a silver knife which has been dipped in water into the custard.
If it comes out clean the custard is done.
Makes 6 individual or one large custard.
