Easy Chocolate Custard

Hi GialloZafferano viewers and welcome to our kitchen. Today we'll be making chocolate pastry custard. This is a very rich custard that can be eaten by the spoonful or used to fill pastries—sponge cake for example...or even beignets or éclairs. It's important to use very fresh ingredients of a good quality.

Directions

MAKING
1) Place the milk and cream into a pot and boil on a low heat
2) Scrape the vanilla pod and add it to the milk
3) To a bowl, add the sugar and add the egg yolk
4) And mix together
5) Sift and add the flour, cornstarch and mix together
6) Once the cream starts to simmer add the cream to the egg mixture little by little
7) Keep on stirring ensuring the eggs do not scramble
8) Once the cream and milk is completely poured in , bring the mixture back onto the heat and stirring continuously thicken the milk
9) Take it off the heat and add in the chocolate pieces
10) And mix in quickly
11) Pour in the custard to an oven proof dish and cling wrap and place in the fridge to cool
12) Once cool the custard is ready to be used

SERVING
13) Serve the custard with éclairs
