|Milk||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Vanilla/1/4 teaspoon orange rind||1 Teaspoon|
Butter inside of top part of double boiler.
Add milk then remaining ingredients.
Beat with rotary beater for 1 minute.
Cover and place over lower part of double boiler containing no more than 1 inch of boiling water.
(Water should not touch bottom of top part.) Quickly reduce heat so that water will just barely simmer.
Cook without removing cover for 15 minutes.
Then remove cover and continue cooking 5 to 10 minutes longer or until custard is set and leaves the side of pan when tilted.
Center of custard should still be quivery when cooking is stopped.
Remove top of boiler from over hot water and allow to cool undisturbed.
Dip out into individual serving dishes and serve with cream if desired.
