Easy Vanilla Custard Sauce

Ingredients
  Sugar 1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)
  Cornstarch 1 Tablespoon
  Salt 1 Dash
  2% milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
  Evaporated skimmed milk 3⁄4 Cup (12 tbs)
  Egg 1 , lightly beaten
  Vanilla bean 6 Inch, split lengthwise
Directions

Combine first 3 ingredients in the top of a double boiler.
Gradually add milks and egg, stirring with a wire whisk until smooth.
Scrape seeds from vanilla bean; stir seeds into milk mixture, reserving bean for another use.
Place pan over simmering water, and cook 12 minutes or until slightly thickened, stirring constantly.
