Classic Floating Island Custard
|Egg yolks||2 (At Room Temperature)|
|Sugar||1⁄4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Cornstarch||1 1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Milk||1 1⁄2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Vanilla extract||1⁄2 Teaspoon|
|Egg whites||2 (At Room Temperature)|
|Fresh strawberries||1 Pint, washed, hulled and halved|
1. Place egg yolks, the 1/4 cup sugar and the cornstarch in a medium-sized, heat-resistant non-metallic bowl; mix well. Gradually stir in milk.
2. Heat, uncovered, in Microwave Oven 4 (5) minutes or until mixture just about boils. Do not allow-to boil. Stir mixture occasionally during last half of cooking.
3. Add the 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
